Cell Phones
Cell Phones
NO CELL PHONES OR HEADPHONES/EARBUDS ALLOWED DURING DIRECT INSTRUCTION.
When students enter the classroom, they must SILENCE their phones ππ (not vibrate βπ³ or flash βπ₯) and place it in the phone hanger at the front of the room according to their desk number.Β
Missing phones in the hanger = TARDY!
All other personal electronics (headphones, smart watches, tablets, etc.) must be put away in students' backpacks/purses/pockets BEFORE the bell work timer ends.
If Ms. Tyack sees a student with their phone (or other personal electronic device) during class, she will confiscate the device(s)* and place them in the "cell block" on her desk.πΒ
If a student's personal electronic device is sent to the cell block, Ms. Tyack will release the device(s) back into the student's custody AFTER CLASS. There will also be a verbal student/teacher conference (refer to the "Behavior Consequences βοΈ" page under Classroom Information for more details).Β
No exceptions. No plea deals. No bail.Β
*If a student refuses to hand over their personal device(s), security will escort them to the main office where they will be required to leave the device(s) until the END OF THE DAY β in this case, only a parent/guardian can pick up the device(s).
Occasionally students are allowed to listen to music while they work independently (see "Music During Class π΅").Β
Cell phones must still remain in the hanger the entire class period.
If a parents/guardians/family members need to contact a student during class time, they must call the main office at (661) 758-7400.Β
They may also contact Ms. Tyack's room directly by dialing extension 51606.
The office can contact the teacher and have the student sent to the office in cases of emergency.
