College-Bound ๐
College entry requirements, also known as "AโG requirements," are a series of high school courses that students must complete with a grade of "C" or better to be eligible for admission to California State Universities (CSU) and the University of California (UC) system.ย
They ensure students build a strong academic foundation in subjects like English, math, science, history, world language, and the arts, preparing them to succeed in college and meet the demands of rigorous college-level coursework.
High School Diploma Only ๐
State minimum high school graduation requirements outline the basic courses needed to earn a diploma.ย
However, meeting these alone does not guarantee college eligibility, since they do not fully align with the AโG requirements required for UC/CSU admission. For example, students can pass with a "D" grade in certain classes and still graduate, but UC/CSU schools require a "C" or better in all courses. In addition, subjects like world language and visual/performing arts are not required for a diploma but are required for college eligibility.
